To Maria Callas, my much missed dear friend and colleague

Maria Callas had and exceptionally glorious voice that made her special in the world of opera and film.

For me, two of her superb portrayals stand out vividly. First, Lucia di Lammermoor, with all of her nuances and subtletics. And second, Tosca with her dynamic passion and style. Both Donizetti and Puccini were thrilled I'm sure.

Maria Callas enriched the lives of millions-both with her appearance on the world's stages and by what she gave and passed on via this great art.

A friend, unforgettale and most endearing, Maria was backstage assisting me on the night of my 30th anniversary concert at Carnegie Hall.

The entire world of opera always saluted this unique woman-and they are still saluting her. She's legendary.
