International Maria Callas Association
is a non-profit organisation with the aim of:
Spreading the knowledge of and preserving the
artistic heritage of this great singer, by keeping
alive the memory of her art
Promoting the name and memory of Maria Callas,
as a symbol of great music, through books, TV
programmes and any other media or initiative aimed
at spreading the great musical heritage of which
Maria Callas was an unforgettable interpreter
Promoting cultural and artistic initiatives,
organising shows, concerts, exhibitions, reviews,
festivals, study conferences, master classes,
scholarships, literary/artistic awards and other
events of a cultural and artistic nature - both
in Italy and abroad
Organising the "International Maria Callas award",
aimed at acknowledging the career of great interpreters
and an International Singing Competition bearing
the name of Maria Callas, aimed at selecting and
supporting young singers who deserve to be launched
on a musical career
Creating an Exhibition or a permanent Museum
in co-operation with public institutions in order
to collect and exhibit objects & personel effects,
photographs and portraits, audio-video documents
(including live recordings in theatres and concert
halls as well as official recordings), all the
known published material on Maria Callas worldwide
and her correspondence with famous members of
the world of art and music; the conservation and
study of costumes that have survived.
